A Texas man can count himself as being a part of the lucky few. According to the San Antonio Express, Adrian Perryman walked out of a Texas courtroom last week a free man after the jury found him not guilty of shooting at police officers who were serving him a search warrant at his home.

The San Antonio Express reported that Perryman’s home had been broken into two times before and that he believed the police officers were intruders.

The San Antonio Express noted that Perryman said that he did not hear the police yell, “Police! Search Warrant!” and that he apologized to them once he saw that they were police officers and not intruders.

The San Antonio Express reported that although the police found methamphetamine and guns, the jurors didn’t hear why the search warrant was issued.

The prosecutors argued that Perryman’s actions were not justified because his surveillance system would have alerted him to the police officers’ presence.

Fortunately for Perryman, his attorney, Tony Jimenez, was able to persuade the jurors that Perryman’s actions were justified because of his past experiences with break-ins at his home and his need to protect his then girlfriend Flores and her three year-old grand-daughter Savannah from any danger that may occur.
